QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer high school diploma or equivalent. Prefer three years of experience as a groundskeeper, or similar work involving general laborer duties which may include the planting and maintenance of vegetation, landscaping duties, or pesticide applications. A valid Arizona driver’s license.

 

REPORTS TO:

Lead Groundskeeper

 

JOB GOAL:

Perform maintenance and landscaping duties at district sites (ground areas).

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inspects physical condition of properties and report needed repairs.
  2. Plants, trims, and/or disposes of lawns, trees, bushes, hedges, and shrubs using hand tools or motorized equipment and/or vehicles.
  3. Assist appropriate staff with maintaining irrigation systems.
  4. Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
  5. Cleans grounds and removes litter.
  6. Waters lawn and shrubs.
  7. Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks.
  8. Paints fences and outbuildings.
  9. Cleans out irrigation ditches and culverts.
  10. Cleans, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on equipment used in grounds maintenance such as mowers, tractor/trailers, front-end loaders, and a variety of hand/power tools.
  11. Maintains an inventory of supplies for all aspects of groundskeeping; e.g., equipment parts, blades, herbicides, pesticides, flowers, bushes, or trees.
  12. Drives vehicles such as a car, truck, or van to pick up other workers, supplies and materials.
  13. Perform other job duties as assigned.

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).
  2. Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Twelve-month, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Non-Exempt
  3. Full Time Employee Benefits: employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION: 

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of support personnel.
