QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Arizona R.N. or L.P.N. License.  Current School Nurse Certification, current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and first aid card.  the ability to qualify or obtain a T3hearing screener training certificate.

Principal and Director of Student Services

 

JOB GOAL:

 Provides health care services to students

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administers first aid to students according to state regulations, district policy and procedure for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
  2. Administers medication and specialized medical treatments for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically-fragile, and injured students in accordance with state laws and district policies.
  3. Supervises mandated screenings (hearing, vision, etc.) for the purpose of identifying sensory or medical needs.
  4. Supervises health associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and ensuring that all pertinent medical records are maintained in electronic and hardcopy.
  5. Provides professional development training to school staff in the areas of medication administration, medical documentation, Epi pen usage, first aid, CPR, and universal precautions (bloodborne pathogens) etc…
  6. Develops nursing care and emergency health plans for individual students as needed.
  7. Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of school students.Reviews immunizations to ensure compliance with state requirements for school attendance.
  8. Counsels students in good health habits.
  9. Works with community agencies to meet the needs of students.
  10. Assists in program for care of disabled students.
  11. Properly maintains health records of students.
  12. Available to assist staff in completing the Supervisor’s Incident Report or Student Accident Report when appropriate.
  13. Completes required reports on immunizations and hearing screening results.
  14. Maintains confidentiality and effectively protects the rights and confidentiality of individual students.
  15. Maintains compliance with Federal/State statutes and District policies and procedures.Participates in extra curricular activities, staff development, and committees throughout the school(s) or district.
  16. Perform other job duties as assigned.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).
  2. The ability to type 40 wpm.
  3. Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Twelve-month, full time, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Exempt

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy.
