Valid Arizona R.N. or L.P.N. License. Current School Nurse Certification, current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and first aid card. the ability to qualify or obtain a T3hearing screener training certificate.

JOB GOAL:
Provides health care services to students
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers first aid to students according to state regulations, district policy and procedure for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
- Administers medication and specialized medical treatments for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically-fragile, and injured students in accordance with state laws and district policies.
- Supervises mandated screenings (hearing, vision, etc.) for the purpose of identifying sensory or medical needs.
- Supervises health associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and ensuring that all pertinent medical records are maintained in electronic and hardcopy.
- Provides professional development training to school staff in the areas of medication administration, medical documentation, Epi pen usage, first aid, CPR, and universal precautions (bloodborne pathogens) etc…
- Develops nursing care and emergency health plans for individual students as needed.
- Cooperates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of school students.Reviews immunizations to ensure compliance with state requirements for school attendance.
- Counsels students in good health habits.
- Works with community agencies to meet the needs of students.
- Assists in program for care of disabled students.
- Properly maintains health records of students.
- Available to assist staff in completing the Supervisor’s Incident Report or Student Accident Report when appropriate.
- Completes required reports on immunizations and hearing screening results.
- Maintains confidentiality and effectively protects the rights and confidentiality of individual students.
- Maintains compliance with Federal/State statutes and District policies and procedures.Participates in extra curricular activities, staff development, and committees throughout the school(s) or district.

- Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
