Description

TITLE:  Coordinator, Preschool

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree (B. A.). Prefer three years of related experience and/or training in early childhood education or equivalent combination of education and experience. Up-to-date Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)/restraint certification.  Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.  Must submit proof of negative Tuberculosis test.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal/Executive Director of Student Services

 

JOB GOAL:  Coordinates early childhood programs.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates with necessary school personnel to schedule and conduct preschool evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services.
  2. Maintains Preschool Child Find Tracking Log including parent/guardian, agency, and Arizona Early Intervention Program referrals.
  3. Develops an annual preschool screening schedule.
  4. Attends transition planning meetings and maintains records for children transitioning from early intervention services to preschool services.
  5. Completes transitions from Individual Family Service Plans to Individualized Education Program (IEP) prior to three years of age.
  6. Coordinates staff to complete screenings of children that are referred to preschool.
  7. Consults with special education preschool teachers, instructional associates, and related service providers to ensure that students receive an appropriate instructional program.
  8. Recommends program adaptations and accommodations that meet students’ needs. with the regular
  9. Participates in individualized education program meetings.
  10. Participates in evaluation conferences.
  11. Communicates with parents regarding student needs.
  12. Maintains knowledge on federal and state statutes regarding special education.
  13. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of special education disabilities.
  14. Demonstrates knowledge of inclusion techniques.
  15. Selects, administers, and interprets a variety of standardized and nonstandardized assessment instruments and to interpret and communicate assessment results to team members and parents.
  16. Writes reports including diagnostic findings and recommendations.
  17. Utilizes assessment results to describe student's skill level and learning style in developing the IEP.
  18. Prepares a standard based IEP to comply with state and federal requirements.
  19. Plans professional development opportunities for preschool staff.
  20. Oversees the preschool teachers’ completion of the state required ongoing progress monitoring instrument for individual preschool students.
  21. Collaborates with Kids Klub Coordinator to ensure Arizona Department of Health Services licensing requirements are followed.
  22. Leads the district’s Early Childhood Quality Improvement Practices (ECQUIP) team and develops a yearly ECQUIP Plan to assist with long range planning for ongoing quality improvement
  23. Collaborates with transportation department staff.
  24. Plans and attends preschool family events.
  25. Assists with the preparation of Title I reports related to preschool.
  26. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).
  2. Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
  3. Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Ten-month, full time employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Exempt

EVALUATION:  Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy.
